Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn and thrive
Education gives girls the knowledge, confidence and opportunities they need to shape their own futures. Yet many girls in Ghana still face barriers that affect their enrolment, attendance and completion of school. These include poverty, harmful gender norms, teenage pregnancy, early marriage, disability, sexual and gender-based violence, menstrual health challenges and limited access to learning materials.
CPA UK works with girls, families, schools and communities to remove these barriers and create safe, inclusive learning environments where every girl can participate and succeed.
Our Objectives
Our Girls’ Education Programme aims to:
- Increase school enrolment, attendance and completion among vulnerable girls.
- Support teenage mothers and girls who have left school to return to education or enter vocational training.
- Reduce the financial and social barriers that prevent girls from attending school.
- Promote safe learning environments free from violence, harassment, exploitation and discrimination.
- Improve access to menstrual health education and appropriate sanitary products.
- Strengthen girls’ confidence, leadership skills and participation in school and community life.
- Promote equal access to education for girls with disabilities.
- Engage parents, teachers, boys, traditional leaders and other stakeholders in supporting girls’ education.
What We Want to Achieve
Community Pathway Africa wants to see:
- More vulnerable girls enrolling in and completing school.
- Fewer girls leaving education because of poverty, pregnancy, early marriage or violence.
- Teenage mothers receiving a genuine opportunity to continue learning.
- Girls with disabilities participating fully in accessible and inclusive education.
- Schools responding effectively to harassment, abuse and child protection concerns.
- Families and communities placing equal value on the education of girls and boys.
- Girls growing into confident, skilled and independent women who can contribute to their families and communities.
