At CPA UK, we believe that economic independence is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of poverty and create lasting change. Women and girls who have access to skills, resources, and economic opportunities are better able to provide for themselves, support their families, and contribute to the development of their communities.
Our Income Generation and Livelihoods Programme supports vulnerable women, teenage mothers, and young women who have left school by equipping them with practical skills, business knowledge, and opportunities to build sustainable sources of income.
We work to remove the barriers that prevent women and girls from achieving financial independence, helping them regain confidence, improve their standard of living, and create brighter futures for themselves and their children.
Why This Matters
Many women and girls face significant economic challenges due to poverty, limited education, unemployment, early pregnancy, gender inequality, and social exclusion. Teenage mothers and young women who leave school often struggle to secure decent employment, making them more vulnerable to exploitation and long-term hardship.
By investing in livelihoods and entrepreneurship, we help individuals move from dependency to self-reliance while strengthening families and communities.
What We Do
We provide practical vocational training that equips participants with marketable skills and opportunities for self-employment.
Training may include:
- Dressmaking and tailoring
- Hairdressing and beauty therapy
- Soap, detergent, and cosmetics production
- Catering and food processing
- Bead making and handicrafts
- Information and digital skills
- Agribusiness and sustainable farming
Starting a business requires more than technical skills. We support participants to develop the confidence and knowledge needed to establish and grow successful enterprises.
