Community Pathway Africa (CPA UK) supported 36 survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in Ho, in the Volta Region of Ghana, to rebuild their livelihoods through practical skills and business training.

Over three months, the participants received hands-on training in bead making and jewelry production. They learned how to design and produce necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and other marketable items. The training provided a safe and supportive environment where participants could develop practical skills, build confidence, and prepare for greater economic independence.

Recognising that technical skills alone are not enough to sustain a business, the programme also included training in entrepreneurship and financial management. Participants learned how to price their products, manage income and expenses, keep basic financial records, serve customers, and plan for business growth.

Many of the women received start-up capital to purchase beads, tools, and other materials needed to establish their small businesses. This support enabled them to begin applying their skills and earning an income for themselves and their families.

For survivors of gender-based violence, economic dependence can make it harder to leave unsafe situations or rebuild after abuse. By combining livelihood training, business knowledge, and start-up support, Community Pathway Africa helped participants take practical steps towards financial security, renewed confidence, and a more independent future.
